ABOUT

Hello there! My name is Julia Giles, and I’m a senior Painting and Drawing major at Suny Purchase. I grew up in a very art-oriented family; my dad’s an animator and my mom’s an author. Because of this, I’ve wanted to work in animation ever since I could pick up a crayon. This drive did upset many teachers, though, as I would often doodle all over my notebooks whenever the opportunity presented itself. I have yet to kick this habit (I’ll let you know if/when I do), but thankfully, in art school it’s encouraged rather than reprimanded.

My time at Purchase gave my a wide range of skills: along with the obvious illustration and painting experience, I learned the fundamentals of graphic design and photo composition to give my work that extra polish it needed. Most importantly, I've made several animatics and animated stickers during my time in college, and my senior project, Rosecolored, is due to premiere sometime in April 2024. Outside of school, I've provided work for companies like Holler Studios and nonprofits like the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation and Women in Animation.
